Behind Closed Doors
We are a couple of girlfriends who had one too many drinks during a summer cookout and wanted to start a podcast. After some random ideas that just didn’t feel right, we ultimately realized we were all book lovers and liquor drinkers. So why not combine the two, and focus on sexy romance novels and drinks? After all, Kindle Unlimited has an endless supply but no one actually (ok not no one, most people) seems talks about them.
Of course, after much discussion we decided it couldn’t just be smut, we wanted to broaden it to capture novels where the love story is central but not the only thing. Cuz sometimes you need a break from all that NSFW sex😜and want a real story.

It was during another summer cookout that we decided over cocktails to draft those nearest and dearest to join the team.
After all, we knew there were somethings that we couldn’t and shouldn’t be doing 😉.

Co-Founder/Pseudo Webmaster/Co-HostChristina is the avid bookworm of the group. Seriously, this woman reads multiple books in a day and often at a time. You can never tell what she's gonna be reading. Sometimes its steamy, sexy, smut and sometimes its a murder mystery, a Stephen King novel, and the latest fiction best seller...all at the same time.
Among her favorite romance novel tropes is sports romance. Which, according to Claire, "is hilarious as you give a negative amount of fucks about sports." (she's not wrong either)
Christina is also the drinker of the group, and kinda bougie with it if we are all being honest. But you can't complain because the bar cart at her and Douglas's house is always stocked with prime booze. Heavy on the bourbon and tequila as that's their usual drink of choice (seriously so many bottles, they are actually running out of room!). As Christina is a bit of a tequila snob, she refuses to have Patrón in the house (and goes on a mini rant on how much she dislikes the stuff). If you are hanging out with her and say you don't like tequila, she'll insist you visit and proceed to have you sample all the good tequilas to tell the difference.

Co-Founder/Co-Host/Inappropriate Title QueenLaurel really enjoys the Regency Era romance novels, like Bridgerton and A League of Extraordinary Women. And let’s be clear she read the Bridgerton books first, well before the show came out on Netflix. She also enjoys a [reverse] harem of book boyfriends but just the one in reality.
Laurel is a single pleasure at a time, when it comes to books…but with drinks…well, it's the merrier with drinks. A ménage à trois so to speak of rum, wine and good malty beer.
Since Christina doesn't always have rum on the bar cart, Laurel regularly asks “...but why is the rum gone?!” a la Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Lastly, while she does love snuggling up with a good, old fashioned, and hard print book, she has a long running affair with the Kindle reader.

Co-Founder/Co-HostClaire has yet to meet a high fantasy novel she doesn’t like. She loves to get lost in foreign worlds, where magic is commonplace, the people are extraordinary… and the smut is smutty. She is the group aficionado of all things nerdy, well-versed in tropes from fandom, fanfiction, Discord servers, and RPG chat servers (IYKYK). Always ready with a snarky comment about obvious plot devices and questionable narrative choices, you can rely on her for a zinger that makes the whole group laugh.
Her favorite kind of vacation involves margaritas and drinking on a beach, but she can hang with the boys over a bottle of bourbon or rock the dive bar with a G&T. While she continues to add hard-copy books to her library (which, considering her limited living space, is bordering on Beast’s Castle-size), Stina turned her onto the wonders of a Kindle and the Libby app before a recent vacation, and she’s been devouring books on digital since.

...ok, ok, he was actually voluntold by Christina. He knows what he's doing which is more than what the women can say right now.
Douglas hopes that they figure it out soon, because he can't handle all the steamy sexy romance talk for much longer.
Until that day, he's going to need something stronger to drink.
He also wants you to know he likes death metal, the dark web, and long walks on the beach.

Our in-house artist, because the rest of us are not the artsy type who could design a logo. We can name things and be creative with talking about ourselves...but art...not really our thing.
